CHRISTMAS ON HERMAN AVE

A preliminary to Christmas - is that Grandpa found the train and was able to get it under the tree Noah is now old enough to learn the fine art of being an engineer.   Engine 2018 is the same as the one Grandpa Doug received when he was about Noah's age...the blue passenger car is from the "Polar Express" movie.

due to illness - Noah was not able to come over to decorate the Christmas cookies...so Nancy made a cake that she and Noah could decorate as a Happy Birthday Jesus cake...

Clayton had drawn my name - and knowing there was gonna be a whole lot of painting going on - bought me a work light....Broden looks ready to get to work and help.   The instructions warn not to use this outside at night as aircraft could mistake your house as an airport...(or not)

"before I take any requests...here is a little ditty I learned way back as a child that my daddy taught me on my first harmonica...kind of a bluesy number with a rock beat...watch for the changes and try to keep up"

Noah begins his career in robotics with this rescue hero robot....and more

Clayton proudly displays a gift certificate to Dave's meat market...securely gripped by "Big Green Egg Grill Grippers......

Broden of course likes the boxes...and began a wrapping paper collection.

Nancy was pretty excited for these dishes....okay let's fill em up and eat from them!
But since they are glass - we can microwave them instead of with plastic - keeping the plastic contaminates out of our food...I wonder how different that will taste....
probably have to use less salt.

Oh Yeah...someone knows how to shop for Nancy

What a great Christmas.....

post production notes:   Noah was taking pictures of Michelle opening her gifts...and they looked a lot like an over exposed out of focus shot of Brodens head...

A bold new outlook on life!

Herman House had a problem, a vision problem,  as you can see in the previous post the picture window was a tad bit foggy.

so for our Christmas present to Herman and us - we corrected his outlook on life!  Now we either have to get some curtains, or some mannequins to make still life displays for neighbors and drive by's  (hmm that would be funny - wonder if their are any mannequins on craig's list)

Pre Christmas Fun!

Getting Ready for Christmas in a new home has it's challenges - like where are the decorations etc.  Not to worry - Broden and Noah came for an afternoon of helping us decorate

Moving Day

Guess what - we were so busy on Moving day that we did not take any pictures - but thanks to Clayton, Scott, Bett, Loren, David, and Marlene.  All arrived at just the right time to help load, and haul.  Of course whenever Nancy asks ..where is....I can just reply, it is somewhere.

Cleaning and Gutting!

Dirt can't hide from these two cleaning sisters - Thanks to Judy to come and help Nancy get the dirt out.   We also had to gut the basement carpet (blue shag) that held so much mold and mildew it was unbearable!

Vacation!

In November we went to North Carolina to visit Adam and Sandra for Thanksgiving.

In our North "Cackalacky" tradition we made seafood instead of turkey.  And we hiked in the mountians and valley's, shopped in Asheville for fine antiques and saw the amazing things you can do with burlap feed bags and charge ourtrageous prices for them.  We had lots of fun

First things First

Some of Herman's first needs were to replace the roof, the electric pole, and the chimney cap.  Work began on the day after we  closed,  and was completed in about 3.5 days

Meet Herman

This is Herman,  4108 Herman Avenue exactly,  In October we took a good look at this foreclosed home, the ladder belonging to a home inspector doing some intricate work.   Hermans needs were and are numerous - but not overwhelming,  he's just been neglected for awhile,  As the inspector said...He has good bones!   So we made the offer and closed in November

Starting a New Blog

Doug and Nancy are starting a New Blog.  Due to difficulties having created our Blog with a now defunct e mail, and the inability of Blogspot or me to change it - we will begin anew.   Anyway  the end of 2010 is a new beginning for us anyway as you will see.
