The good the bad and the ugly that was hidden by the carpet - all the spatter paint from the PO's paint job

This shows one corner cleaned...It took Basic I, scraper, steel wool and sponges

As clean as it can be until it gets refininshed

Me and My Shadow

Ahh - new paint on a clean  primerd wall.  It is good to have my shadow help hold the roller as he can see it from a different perspective

Coulda Done without that!

this was our first sign of trouble...a small patch of peeling paint - when we decided this would be our bedroom - it became the "first upstairs project room"

No doubt when you paint - preparation is the most important step in the process - Never have I had to strip paint from an inside wall - apparently the green is an oil base paint and everything else on top (pink, yellow, cream) is all latex, and the wall never got cleaned or primed before application.

Did you eat paint chips as a kid? (movie reference)
If so this would have been a smorgasbord!

This is the way it comes off - sometimes in big pieces and sometimes little.

So - next time - clean and prime your walls - find out if you are painting over oil base or latex
Read the paint can instructions.

we are hoping this is the only room with this problem  -  we'll keep ya posted!

What a Nice Christmas

Nancy had to work on Christmas Day, but since it was a nice day (not snowing) her folks could come over for a fine shrimp dinner late that afternoon.

Herman's Workshop

This is just a small sample of the wiring in this house...not smart

This is what was left in the workshop - it is an old pharmacy counter...based upon a little bit of paper work we found inside...the fronts are oak drawers - It has since been de molded - and cleaned and removed from the shop, and is a "future" project.

This shows the painted shop - with temporary work bench to sort the tools once the correct storage units get moved in

Anyone interested in a 50's vintage sink and cupboard unit - it cleaned up pretty nice and will be removed when I get a new laundry sink - yes there are other cabinets that match...So you can "Go Retro" if ya wanna

Herman's Progress

This was Herman's utility room as we found it

This shows the painter at work (with new lights) , the wall is gone as are the funky stinky closets

This is the partially finished product  - painted floor and storage area forming...Yes those are live wires still hanging down there but they will be dealt with soon...uh they are taped.
