A True Sun Room

As we took up residence at Herman House, we were not quite sure what to call this room.  We called it the "bump out"  "The nook"  "the Sun room"  "Poolside look out"  and  "the lodge"

Here is a "before picture"  with the styrofoam beams still on the ceiling

And here it is now with a painted ceiling and new trim and paint...A true Sun Room!

Broden's Birthday

We were very honored to be able to have Broden come over for part of his Birthday - we made a Meijers run for a toy and some misc things that Grampa and Grama needed....

But ya can't just sit home rockin' yer babies all day when it's your Birthday - Ya Gotta create some fun - so get up and get out!

When Gramma says Run the Mall - she means it - and it is okay to run there...lots of space!

And Speaking of Space...Broden connected with a Space ship and is showing G&G just how to use The SPS (space positioning system) to get to a galaxy far far away - and it does not burn any fossil fuel...it runs on quarters

We must have landed on animal planet - and this guy let me drive his car

And Even more space to run

Cool Cat!

Okay - let me show ya how to drive this quad...ya gotta lean into the turns!

I am a little sad that Grampa ran out of quarters....More?  (even with hand signals)

This is Broden"s Ice Cream Truck

Grampa seemed Sad he did not have enough quarters to get a ride in this one!

Pool or Pond

As spring is making it's way into Michigan - we were walking around the pool looking at the needed clean up and landscaping updates...we pondered what we might put in etc....

I was thinking maybe some beach grass - but today we have been visited by ducks...so maybe I can get some cattails to grow around the edges....like for a hunting  blind

The Sandman cometh!

Since all the bedrooms are painted...What's Next is the sun room.  This little room has caused a big mess - We were not particularly fond of the Styrofoam fake beams glued to the ceiling - they came down quite easily in fact almost falling down.  The glue however was a bit tougher.  fortunately that hose on the sander connects to the vacuum!....This is not fun!

I actually had to go into the attic as I found a hidden electrical opening in the center of the ceiling where a light used to be and will hopefully be again.

Things Nancy did not want to hear...."I am taking the sawz-all into the attic" and had to make a bigger opening into the attic of the sun room to find a buried wire.
Yup...just cut off and laying in the insulation...fortunately it was not live....so I think I know where to tie it in...but that is another chapter!   Like  - Later!

SEW What!

Nancy is very handy at making curtains - but in the process her sewing machine broke and is not repairable as the part is no longer made - so she borrowed her mother's...We did not realize this is about a late 40's or early 50's machine... so we had to read the instructions....which instructed us to oil the machine with..."Coal Oil"  or kerosene.  I managed to find some "singer" oil that was okay for "all" sewing machines

Let the sewing begin
